First VisitWe are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial complimentary appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. We are also happy to give you a tour of our office so you can see our facilities and meet our friendly team.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months.
  • If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance card. We can help you find out your orthodontic coverage.
  • If possible, please download a copy of the Medical History Form and have it completed before you arrive to save yourself time in the office.

We understand that choosing to have orthodontics is a big decision and we respect your reasons for improving your smile and the way you feel. We will be with you every step of the way to make sure your orthodontic treatment is comfortable and rewarding.

During your free initial consultation, Dr. Wong will review your medical history and provide a comprehensive oral exam with x-rays if needed. One of three outcomes will be determined:

  • Treatment is necessary at this time
  • Treatment is needed, but not at this time
  • No treatment is necessary

What if treatment is necessary?

Dr. Wong will then discuss treatment options and educate you about the benefits of orthodontics. He will also:

  • Create a customized treatment plan for you
  • Discuss all financial information, insurance options and payment plans
  • To schedule a complimentary initial consultation with Dr. Wong, please call 905-636-9888 or click here.

What happens after the initial consultation?

If you wish to begin treatment, further information needs to be gathered to customize your individual treatment. This usually involves taking impressions of your teeth for diagnostic study models, photographs and diagnostic x-rays. Your individual treatment will be confirmed with this information and if space is needed between your back teeth to fit bands or appliances, elastic separators can be placed that same day to avoid the hassle of multiple visits to the office. Otherwise, we will schedule time on another day to meet your scheduling needs.

Scheduling appointments

Having orthodontic visits every 4-8 weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Regular adjustments will last between 20-40 minutes. We understand that everyone has busy lives and we will work with you to schedule your appointments at a convenient time. That means less time in the dental chair and more time enjoying the things you love to do.

We also understand that things happen. If you are running late, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. Please understand that we have reserved a time specifically for you so if you need to reschedule, kindly provide 24 hours notice.

Visiting your family dentist during your orthodontic treatment

Having regular dental visits for cleanings and checkups during your orthodontic treatment is extremely important as having braces means it is more difficult to keep teeth clean at home. Should any dental treatment arise during orthodontic treatment, rest assured that we will coordinate with your family dentist to ensure you are receiving the best possible care.
